Major League Baseball has been a source of bonding for fathers and sons for over a century now.

In recent years, MLB teams and players have sported special edition uniforms and equipment in honor of Father’s Day.

Kansas City Royals catcher Martin Maldonado and Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Elias Diaz put a whole new meaning to business attire on Sunday.

The two catchers sported ties, yes, neckties over their chest protectors in their games against the Minnesota Twins and Miami Marlins, respectively.

They seemed to be lucky ties as well.

Both teams were victorious on the road and Maldonado was 3-for-4 with two RBI on the day.

Diaz didn’t get the start on Sunday, but he was able to show off his latest fashion statement after coming into the game in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Albeit this being a never-before-seen occurrence, one would presume that this will inspire other major leaguer’s to put their own spin on next year’s Father’s Day attire.
