Jayden Daniels, the first true freshman quarterback to ever start on opening night for the Sun Devils, recorded his first-career touchdown pass against Kent State in the first quarter Thursday.

The eight-yard pass to running back Eno Benjamin came with 3:58 seconds remaining in the quarter.

ASU began the offensive drive after junior college transfer Jack Jones had his first forced fumble at ASU, which was recovered by redshirt freshman Cam Phillips.

By the end of the first quarter, Daniels completed three of four passes for 52 yards and one touchdown.

Daniels completed passes to four different targets in the first quarter alone.

Daniels finished the game with three total touchdowns, two in the air and one rushing, and the Sun Devils won 30-7.
