Arizona Cardinals tight end Maxx Williams’ first touchdown of the season couldn’t have been easier.

With rookie wide receiver Andy Isabella occupying the defense, the tight end found himself with no one around him in the third quarter, scoring from 20 yards out.

Literally.

But while the setup of the play was A1, it was the tackle in the end zone that was perfectly executed.

And we’re not talking about the Falcons defender.

Once it was tallied on the scoreboard, the touchdown celebration ensued, but not without veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald getting in on the fun.

“I told Larry, ‘it’s my first touchdown in Arizona and you’re going to tackle me at the end?'” Williams said after the game. “It’s what he does, it’s Larry, It’s great because he’s from Minnesota too. It’s kinda fun having him there celebrating. It was awesome being there with Chase [Edmonds] punching me in the chest a little bit. It was just a fun play overall.”

Maybe Larry was just trying to show the Atlanta defenders how to properly wrap up the tight end.

“He’s a Minnesota man,” Fitzgerald told reporters after the game. “That’s my man, he works tirelessly and he’s such a humble, hard-working dude. He does all the dirty work, and to finally see him get in there — it’s good to see those guys who work their tail off like that be rewarded with a touchdown.

“I felt like it took him forever to get there. Looked like my dad running. It was great to see him get in there.”

Williams marks just one of many former players and coaches to have gone down at the hands of the All-Pro.

Last October, Fitzgerald got his old signal caller Kurt Warner while the former QB was doing a live shot for the FOX pregame show.

But before that, Fitz was still working on his technique, taking down former Cardinal fullback Ron Wolfley.

Defenders are told to keep their heads on a swivel when guarding a receiving threat like Fitzgerald.

But it’s his own teammates that may need to take the advice moving forward.
