Retired from NFL, former ASU QB Brock Osweiler seeks balance

Former NFL quarterback and Arizona State product Brock Osweiler believes he has more in the tank. But being realistic, the 28-year-old quarterback knew that his pro football career had reached its end.
That’s why Osweiler decided to retire before the 2019 season.
“I think it’s something that has slowly developed over time,” he told Doug & Wolf on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. “The NFL, we all know, kind of stands for ‘Not For Long,’ and sometimes I think the game decides that it’s maybe done with you before you’re done with it. In my case, that’s just kind of how things worked out.”
Osweiler played in seven games for the Miami Dolphins last season, completing 64% of his passes for 1,247 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions.

After seven seasons with the Denver Broncos (2012-15, 2017), Houston Texans (2016) and Dolphins (2018), Osweiler’s perspective has changed as his family has grown.
With a young child at home and another on the way, the quarterback is searching for a new career that he hopes gives him life balance.
Since retiring, Osweiler has opted against taking a gig as a college football television analyst. He is currently working as an analyst for a Power 5 college football offensive coordinator.
Coaching might be in Osweiler’s future.
He told Doug & Wolf that he’d spoken to ASU head coach Herm Edwards about potential opportunities at his alma mater that could open up next season.
“I’m kind of taking all opportunities that present themselves, vetting through them and just trying to figure out what the next move in life is,” the former quarterback said.
“I’m very fortunate and very grateful to play seven years in the National Football League. I’ve made life-long relationships, friends, people, mentors I’ll look up to for the rest of my life. I was fortunate to be a part of two Super Bowls, win one. At the end of the day, I still had more goals I wanted to accomplish. I still had aspirations to play but very grateful for the time that I did receive.”
