The Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers released their inactive lists for their first game of the year.
With it was one big announcement: Chris Streveler has beat out Brett Hundley for the backup quarterback role entering the season.
Streveler has two years of professional experience with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League.
Streveler will be active while Hundley is on the inactive list.
The full inactive list is Hundley, safety Deionte Thompson, running back Eno Benjamin, offensive lineman Josh Miles and offensive lineman Josh Jones, who is out with an ankle injury.
Benjamin’s appearance on this list is notable. Running back D.J. Foster was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad on Saturday, and he remains active while the rookie hits the inactive list.
As for the 49ers’ inactive list, the most notable appearance is former ASU wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. The rookie was limited during practice due to a hamstring injury during the week.
In addition to Aiyuk, quarterback C.J. Beathard, cornerback Jason Verrett, linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, offensive lineman Ben Garland and defensive lineman Kentavius Street are inactive.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1:25 p.m. at Levi’s Stadium. As of 11 p.m., the air quality index reading was at 172.
If that rating, which notes poor air quality due to the wildfires in California, remains below 200, the game will be allowed to play as planned.
