San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, a former Arizona State Sun Devil, was placed on the COVID-19 reserve on Friday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Niners placed Aiyuk, tight end Daniel Helm and and offensive tackle Trent Williams on the list.
Aiyuk has had a very good start to his NFL career, posting 446 receiving yards on 35 catches, 61 rushing yards on five runs and five total touchdowns over his first eight games. The rookie has posted more than 90 total yards in three games.
At ASU, Aiyuk broke out as a senior, recording 1,192 receiving yards and 1,870 all-purpose yards.
He was selected by San Francisco with the 25th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The 49ers go into Week 11 with a 4-6 record. The reigning NFC Champions have been decimated by injury this season and currently have 16 players on injured reserve, according to Niners Wire, including quarterback Jimmy Garopollo, tight end George Kittle and defensive lineman Nick Bosa.
San Francisco is on a bye this week, which may give Aiyuk time to get off the COVID-19 reserve and back onto the field before the team’s Week 12 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
