Report: ASU guard Alonzo Verge Jr. returns to practice on Saturday

Arizona State senior guard Alonzo Verge Jr. returned to practice on Saturday after missing the team’s last two games for coronavirus contact tracing.
The news, which was first reported by Jon Rothstein, means that the Sun Devils should be at full strength when they take on San Diego State in Tempe on Thursday.

Verge was a vital cog in ASU’s offense during the first two games of the season, averaging the third-most points per game (15.0) for Bobby Hurley’s team.

He’s shooting 39.1% from the field (9-of-23) and is hitting 33.3% of his shots from 3-point land (2-0f-6). From the charity stripe, Verge has connected on 10 of his 17 attempts (58.8%).
The Chicago native averaged 14.6 points per game off the bench a year ago, in addition to 5.5 rebounds and three assists per game.
