The Arizona Cardinals activated offensive lineman Lamont Gaillard and placed linebacker Kylie Fitts on injured reserve Monday.
The backup center was reinstated from the Commissioner’s Exempt List after missing the last two weeks following the birth of his daughter.
Gaillard has played in 13 games this season, starting twice.
Fitts heads to the IR after playing in 13 games for the Cardinals this season.
He recorded a forced fumble while covering a punt against the New York Giants and added nine tackles throughout the year. Fitts also provided added depth to a linebacker position that has been hit hard by injuries this season.
With both Fitts and outside linebacker Dennis Gardeck on injured reserve, Haason Reddick, Markus Golden and Devon Kennard figure to handle the brunt of the OLB duties.
Rookie backer Isaiah Simmons this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams could also see more reps at OLB, a position he has played in this season.
Through 15 games, the linebacker has 51 tackles, four of which were for losses, 2.0 sacks, an interception, two passes defensed, a fumble recovery and three QB hits.
A win over the Rams locks the Cardinals into the postseason. Catch all the action live on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
