Just like countless others around the nation, the Arizona State Sun Devils and Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball teams have been impacted greatly by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of the programs’ 14 postponed or canceled games (more on that below), six were conference matchups. While it’s unclear when the rescheduled games will take place, the Pac-12 is working with all sides involved to get the games in before season’s end.

In order to have more time to reschedule said postponed Pac-12 games, both ASU and Arizona agreed to move up their series finale from March 6 to Jan. 25.

With that being said, here’s a timeline of all the postponements or cancellations the two schools have navigated this season:

These lists will be updating regularly with any updates or added postponements/cancellations

Sun Devils cancellations and postponements

Nov. 26 — Baylor Bears

Before the regular season began, the Sun Devils were forced to shift gears when Baylor announced COVID-19 concerns ahead of the Bears’ matchup against ASU in the 2K Empire Classic.

Instead, the Sun Devils took on Rhode Island, winning 94-88.

Dec. 17 — Incarnate Word Cardinals

Incarnate Word canceled its matchup with the Sun Devils due to a positive test within the Cardinals’ program.

Dec. 22 — Utah Utes*

Utah postponed the team’s matchup with ASU after someone tested positive for COVID-19 within the Utes’ program. It marked the first conference game to be postponed for the Sun Devils.

Dec. 31 — Washington State Cougars*

ASU’s following matchup against Washington State would not go one as planned, either. This time the Sun Devils had to postpone the meeting due to coronavirus developments within their program.

Jan. 2 — Washington Huskies*

Same as the Washington State game, the Sun Devils were forced to postpone the team’s matchup with the Washington Huskies due to COVID-19 developments within ASU’s ranks.

Jan. 14 — Oregon Ducks*

Oregon paused team activities two days ahead of the team’s game with the Sun Devils following a positive COVID-19 test within the Ducks’ program.

Wildcats cancellations and postponements

Nov. 25 — NAU Lumberjacks

The Wildcats’ season opener was halted before it started due to a positive test within NAU’s program.

Luckily, the two sides were able to reschedule the contest for Dec. 7. Arizona won 96-53.

Nov. 29 — UTEP Miners

The Miners were forced to cancel their matchup with the Wildcats after a confirmed COVID-19 case among UTEP’s ranks.

Dec. 2 — Colorado Buffaloes*

The Buffaloes were the first Pac-12 opponent to postpone their game against the Wildcats after Colorado experienced COVID-19 issues within its program and associated contact tracing protocols.

Dec. 5 — Northern Colorado Bears

The Bears canceled their meeting with the Wildcats after COVID-19 issues within Northern Colorado’s program.

The Wildcats were able to fill the slot with Eastern Washington, however, which Arizona beat 70-67.

Dec. 12 — Illinois Fighting Illini/New Mexico State Aggies

Originally expected to play Illinois, the Wildcats were forced to reschedule the finale of the two-game series to 2021 after both schools agreed to postpone the matchup over COVID-19 considerations.

Instead, Arizona turned to New Mexico State to fill the vacancy. Unfortunately, the Aggies had to cancel their meeting with the Wildcats due to a positive COVID-19 test within their ranks.

The Wildcats still managed to find an opponent for Dec. 12, though, as the team faced UTEP. Arizona won 69-61.

Dec. 16 — California Baptist Lancers

A positive COVID-19 test within Cal Baptist’s program forced the Lancers to cancel their matchup with the Wildcats.

Dec. 21 — San Diego

San Diego canceled its meeting with Arizona due to a COVID-19 related concern within their program.

Jan. 16 — Oregon*

Oregon paused team activities following a positive COVID-19 test within their program.
