The Arizona Cardinals added to their offensive linemen depth on Wednesday.
The Cardinals announced the signing of OL Branden Bowen. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-7, 315-pound lineman signed on as an undrafted free agent last season with the Carolina Panthers. He was released by the team at the end of training camp.
Prior to his stint in Carolina, Bowen played collegiately at Ohio State as a tackle and a guard. He played in 32 career games over a five-year span with the Buckeyes. As a senior in 2019, he started 13 games at tackle. Bowen was named to the second-team All-Big Ten.
The 24-year-old dealt with injuries during his time at Ohio State, missing a good portion of 2017 before sitting out the entire 2018 season due to a broken leg.
Bowen heads to a Cardinals team that has some question marks along the O-line. Kelvin Beachum, who started last season at right tackle, is set to hit free agency in March. As are guards J.R. Sweezy and Max Garcia.
Marcus Gilbert, who sat out last season due to COVID-19 concerns, and 2020 third-rounder Josh Jones are in the mix to compete for more playing time with Bowen.
