After wearing the same uniforms since 2004, the Cincinnati Bengals are switching things up for 2021 and beyond.
The team unveiled its new look early Monday morning. It marks the fourth significant redesign in team history, according to the Bengals.
Sticking with their “uniting our past with our future” narrative, the Bengals had none other than Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson headline the reveal.

The Bengals opted for a much more traditional and cleaner look than in years past.
Instead of having black, orange and white thrown together with the use of patterns along the sides and on the shoulders, the new threads are a lot simpler.
There’s a total of seven different uniform combinations the team will choose from throughout the season.

“We wanted the new uniforms to have a clean, sleek design,” director of strategy and fan engagement Elizabeth Blackburn said on the team’s website. “We used our popular color rush jersey, helmet and the beautiful Bengal tiger as inspiration to achieve an iconic bold look.”
The black jerseys are the team’s home uniforms. The Bengals will wear white on the road and use their orange look as an alternate.

While the jerseys are certainly an upgrade, the stripped helmet remains unchanged. And for good reason.
“It was my father’s belief that the helmet should be distinctive,” team owner and president Mike Brown said. “You should be able to walk into a stadium, look down onto the field, and identify what team that is. Our helmet does that.”
