Michael Jordan jersey sets record selling for $1.38 million in auction

There have been jerseys that catch the eye, but rarely is there a jersey that catches the wallet like a recently sold 1983 game-worn Michael Jordan North Carolina Tar Heels top.
The threads were recently sold for $1.38 million through Heritage Auctions on Saturday, according to ESPN.
The baby blue Tar Heels jersey smashed a previous record for a Jordan jersey by nearly one million dollars. In October, Heritage Auctions sold a game-worn 1986-87 Chicago Bulls Jordan jersey for $480,000.
The North Carolina jersey was worn during the season MJ won the NCAA player of the year award from The Sporting News. On the magazine cover, Jordan posed by the rim wearing this now-classic look.
It was originally sold for $63,500 in 1999.
When Jordan and the Tar Heels visited Stanford for a tournament in 1983, equipment managers from Stanford traded jerseys with equipment managers from North Carolina, which is how the jersey left the possession of the university.
