Cowboys ‘Lion’ Micah Parsons not underestimating ‘cheetah’ Kyler Murray

From jackrabbit to squirrel, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is used to other players or coaches comparing him to a quick-twitch animal over his football career.
Dallas Cowboys rookie linebacker Micah Parsons, who likens himself to a lion, took things to a whole new level in terms of the animal kingdom when he was asked about Murray on Wednesday.
“I’m not gonna say that [a lion can outrun a cheetah],” Parsons told Cowboys reporters. “The cheetah’s the fastest animal, but I mean a lion doesn’t just go by himself.
“So if you’ve got a pack of lions, then I like the lion over the cheetah any day of the week.”
You don’t have to look hard to see Parson’s comparison, with Murray posting the fastest speed on any completion in the Next Gen Stats era (since 2016) back in Week 14 as a clear example of the linebacker’s thought process.
He’s not alone in knowing the pure speed Murray possesses, either.
Former college teammate and current Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has seen the quickness firsthand.
“My speed is deceptive,” Lamb told reporters Wednesday. “He’s faster than me, no question. He’s faster than me.
“Very elusive … can extend plays outside the pocket. I feel like that is when he is the most dangerous. He’s a playmaker at the end of the day, whether it’s throwing the ball or running. … I’m proud of everything he’s accomplished.”
