Phoenix Rising FC brought back a familiar face on Monday in German goalkeeper Ben Lundt.

Lundt spent three and a half months (May 6 to Aug. 27) on loan to PRFC last season before being recalled to his former MLS club FC Cincinnati.

The 6-foot-6 German shot-stopper will remain with Phoenix for at least the next two seasons, as the club has signed him to a multi-year contract.

“Phoenix is a club I can grow along with and become a better professional,” Lundt said in a press release. “From a team perspective, I know they feel they had too long of an offseason.

“We have to get a trophy back to Phoenix. I’m very familiar with the club and I know exactly what’s expected of me in order to help make it happen.”

In nine appearances (810 minutes) for Rising last year, Lundt had four clean sheets and saved 23 of the 33 shots he saw en route to a 5W-1D-3L record while in net.

The 26-year-old Lundt was the 2020 USL Championship Goalkeeper of the Year with Eastern Conference side Louisville City FC, who visits Phoenix for a preseason friendly at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler on Feb. 19 before hosting PRFC in the regular season at Lynn Family Stadium on July 20.

And prior to leaving Europe to come to the United States, the goalkeeper spent his youth and first three professional seasons with German side Hertha Berlin II, including being called up to the senior team bench for a Bundesliga match.

Phoenix Rising now has 22 players signed to its roster ahead of the 2022 USL Championship season:

Goalkeeper: Lalo Delgado, Ben Lundt

Fullbacks: Joey Calistri, Channing Chasten, Ryan Flood, Darnell King, Babou Njie

Center backs: Niall Dunn, Joe Farrell, Manuel Madrid, James Musa

Midfielders: Carlos Anguiano, Ivan Gutierrez, Kevon Lambert, Jonathan Levin, Aodhan Quinn, Arturo Rodriguez, Luis Seijas

Forwards: Richmond Antwi, Marcus Epps, Greg Hurst, Santi Moar
