Arizona State cornerback Jack Jones was drafted by the New England Patriots with the No. 121 pick (fourth round) in the 2022 NFL Draft on Saturday.

Jones had three interceptions last year, one of which he returned for a touchdown in the Territorial Cup matchup against Arizona.

The corner played three seasons at ASU on the opposite side of Chase Lucas, who remains on the draft board.

Jones transferred into the program ahead of the 2019 campaign following a year at community college. He started his college career with USC, playing two seasons for his hometown school.

With the Sun Devils, Jones played 26 games and racked up 92 tackles and 26 pass defenses and was an All-Pac-12 honorable mention in 2019 and 2021.

He ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in March, and NFL Network draft analyst Lance Zierlein evaluated some of his strengths and weaknesses.

As a player, he’s a ball-hawking cornerback with playmaking instincts. Despite solid ball production, though, Jones also gave up a lot of touchdowns at the college level. His lack of size/strength should make technique a top priority, as his talent for finding the football won’t matter as much if he can’t get on the field. Jones could be a late Day 3 selection, but physical deficiencies are working against him.

Jones was the second Sun Devil selected in the draft after Running back Rachaad White.

He joins a Patriots team that lost its top cornerback, J.C. Jackson, in free agency.
