The 2022 MLB trade deadline has come and gone and there was a ton of action around the league with an enormous amount of players being moved to different teams.

But all was calm in the desert as the Arizona Diamondbacks didn’t make any significant moves at the deadline.

The D-backs weren’t completely silent, however, making two trades before Tuesday’s deadline.

First, they sent veteran outfielder David Peralta to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for 19-year-old catching prospect Christian Cerda.

Second, they dealt pitcher Luke Weaver, who was part of the deal that sent Paul Goldschmidt to the St. Louis Cardinals, to the Kansas City Royals for 26-year-old third baseman Emmanuel Rivera.

While Arizona was relatively quiet, their division rivals, the San Diego Padres, were not.

They swung a deal to acquire superstar outfielder Juan Soto from the Washington Nationals in what is being called the biggest trade in MLB history.

Steve Zinsmeister and Cody Fincher of The Ain’t No Fang Podcast discuss what the D-backs did at the deadline as well as what the Soto trade means for the future of the NL West.
