Team offered Eagles ‘more than first round pick’ for Kolb

PHOENIX – As the speculation continues over where Eagles’ quarterback Kevin Kolb will end up in Arizona, the cost of acquiring him may have come into focus a little bit.

ESPN NFL analyst Adam Schefter reported that a mystery team did in fact offer “more than a first-round pick” for Kolb last offseason.

The mystery team is believed to be either the Cleveland Browns or Seattle Seahawks.

“Last offseason, there was a team willing to give them more than a first-round pick,” Schefter said. “And that’s what’s going to happen this offseason.”

What remains to be seen is what will be required in addition to a first rounder. It could come in the form of additional picks or players.

Schefter reiterated that Arizona is the clear front-runner to acquire Kolb.

Rumors have surfaced that Arizona might be willing to part with a first-rounder and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to land Kolb.

It could be true that the Cardinals are considering this option given that they drafted Patrick Peterson when the team seemed to be set at the cornerback position.

Still, whether it would be a solid player like Rodgers or anything more than a first-round pick, it seems like a hefty price to pay for a guy in Kolb who hasn’t really accomplished anything in the NFL.
