LISTEN: Jermaine Gresham, Arizona Cardinals tight end

Jermaine Gresham didn’t get any promises when he signed with the Arizona Cardinals. The former Cincinnati Bengals tight end spoke with Bickley & Marotta on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM about his signing and more.

“They didn’t promise me anything,” Gresham said.

“They gave me an opportunity to sign, be on the team and be able to contribute,” Gresham said. “They didn’t gas me up or tell me that I was guaranteed to get this or guaranteed to get that.”

When asked what he brings to the team, Gresham said he’s “dependable” and the stats back that up. The former Oklahoma star has always been consistent during his time in Cincinnati, only missing six games in five seasons and catching at least 46 passes in each season.

Gresham is impressed by the Cardinals offense.

“More than anything (I see) explosiveness,” Gresham said. “Larry, Floyd, 12 (John Brown) in the slot and even at the running back position, everybody is explosive.”

The tight end’s health has been a question, but he has no doubts on if he could play.

“If we were playing for games I’m playing right now. I think the team is taking it kind of slow, being cautionary and seeing things long-term,” Gresham said.

His new quarterback is actually an old teammate. Carson Palmer was the QB for the Bengals in Gresham’s rookie year.

“He was very hard on me,” Gresham said.

“He made me understand football and what I needed to be a pro.”
