Report: Kyler Murray might not return until after Cardinals’ Week 13 bye

Nov 21, 2022, 9:33 AM | Updated: 10:46 am

The Arizona Cardinals might be without quarterback Kyler Murray until after the team’s Week 13 bye, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Fowler added that depending on how Murray’s hamstring injury heals this week, the Cardinals are considering giving their starting quarterback some extra time off.

That would mean backup QB Colt McCoy would be in line to start Arizona’s next two games — which would mark three in a row after leading the team to a 27-17 victory over the Rams in Los Angeles.

McCoy “appears set to start” the Cardinals’ NFC West matchup against the San Francisco 49ers at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on Monday Night Football, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The backup quarterback was listed as questionable on Saturday’s final injury report for the week with a knee issue.

McCoy is 3-1 in his career as a starter for the Cardinals while filling in for an injured Murray.

Arizona also comes into Monday night’s contest at 4-6, two games behind the division-leading Seattle Seahawks and one game back of the Niners.

However, the Cardinals lost the tiebreaker to the Seahawks after getting swept by Seattle.

Arizona has yet to play San Francisco this year and finishes the season at Levi’s Stadium on Jan. 8 after the MNF matchup in Mexico.

Kickoff is set for 6:15 p.m. on Arizona Sports 98.7, ArizonaSports.com or the app.
