Adding to a dismal day for Sun Devil football, former ASU football players Garth Gerhart and Carl Bradford were both cut by the Green Bay Packers on Saturday as rosters slimmed down to 53.
But they’re not hanging up their cleats just yet.
On Tuesday, both Gerhart and Bradford were added to the practice squads of the teams that first signed them.
Bradford was a fourth-round selection of the Packers in 2014. In his first year with the team, he made the 53-man roster, but was inactive for the entire 2014 season.
While Bradford is staying in Green Bay, Gerhart rejoins the Cleveland Browns for the first time since 2012.
Cleveland originally signed Gerhart on May 9, 2012 after he went undrafted following his senior season at ASU. He was cut on Aug. 31 and added to the Browns’ practice squad the following day.
Gerhart spent the majority of the 2013 and 2014 seasons with Green Bay with the exception of spending a week on the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad in September 2013.
He appeared at left guard for the Packers in two games in 2014.
Gerhart and Bradford both hail from Norco High School in Norco, California where Gerhart’s father, Todd Gerhart, coached them.
