Got a feeling of déjà vu?

Yes, that’s former Arizona State receiver Jaelen Strong making his second Hail Mary catch in a year and four days. The Houston Texans rookie, after being on the inactive list the last several weeks, caught the 42-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brian Hoyer just before halftime against the Indianapolis Colts.

It was the first reception in an NFL regular season game for Strong, who the Texans picked 70th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. Strong’s second reception, another touchdown of 11 yards, came in the third quarter.

It was Oct. 4, 2014, when Strong stamped his legacy on his ASU career that would end after two seasons following a transfer from community college. With the Sun Devils trailing the USC Trojans by two points and the clock ticking down, Mike Bercovici launched a 46-yard Hail Mary pass that fell just short of the goal line. Strong was there to make the miraculous catch and walk into the end zone.

The game-winning play would soon be known as the Jael Mary. Now, we have the sequel, which just happens to mark the beginning of Strong’s NFL career.

Strong scored another touchdown on an 11-yard reception later in the game. He finished his debut with two catches for 53 yards and two scores.
