USA Today released its college football Freshman All-American Team Thursday, and Arizona State defensive back Kareem Orr claimed one of the secondary spots.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Orr, along with Utah’s Marcus Williams, led the Pac-12 with five interceptions.

In a 52-37 win over arch-rival Arizona on Nov. 21, Orr returned an interception 21 yards for a touchdown with 3:33 left to stretch ASU’s lead to 15 points.

For the season, the Chattanooga, Tenn. native registered 31 total tackles (24 solo, 7 assists) along with seven passes defensed, two pass breakups and a forced fumble.

Orr is one of five Pac-12 players on the squad, joining UCLA QB Josh Rosen, Washington State DL Hercules Mata’afa, USC LB Cameron Smith and USC CB Iman Marshall.

This is the fourth straight year Arizona State has had a player named to a Freshman All-American Team. In 2012, defensive tackle Jaxon Hood and running back D.J. Foster were honored by Fox Sports Net. The next year, kicker Zane Gonzalez was a Second-Team selection by College Football News. The same publication gave linebacker Salamo Fiso a Third-Team nod. In 2014, linebacker D.J. Calhoun was named a First-Team Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America, defensive tackle Tashon Smallwood (Second Team) and running back Demario Richard (Honorable Mention) were honored by College Football News.
