Fork Report: Devils win Pac-12 opener against Utah

Sure, you could read the box score and know who won, but we all know that won’t tell you everything that happened in a football game. So, we will give you a fork report, providing you with the analysis, quotes and notes from ASU’s September 22 win over Utah. Final score: Arizona State 37, Utah 7.
The Good:
The Sun Devils scored on their first five possessions, including three touchdown passes from Taylor Kelly as ASU jumped in front of Utah 31-7 in the first half. Kelly was 19 of 26 for 326 yards. Meanwhile the defense, led by senior linebacker Brandon Magee’s team-high 10 tackles, held Utah to a season-low 209 yards.
The Bad:
The Sun Devils committed a season-high eight penalties, including the first two penalties of the season on special teams.
He Said It:
“We really dominated them,” head coach Todd Graham said. “It was a team effort all the way around. Too many penalties though.”
Noted:
The Sun Devils gained 512 total yards of offense against a defense that was ranked second in the conference.
Senior running back Cameron Marshall scored his 33rd career rushing touchdown, placing him third all-time in ASU history.
