The Arizona State defense ranks tenth nationally in total defense in large part because of the play of junior defensive tackle Will Sutton.
“If there is a defensive tackle in country playing better than him in the first four games, I would like to see it,” ASU head coach Todd Graham told Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo.
Sutton has 26 tackles and 3.5 sacks in just four games and looks like he could be one of the top defensive players in the Pac-12.
“He wants to be the best in the country,” Graham said. “He is a dynamic player, very powerful and very explosive. I love watching him play.”
Graham has been very impressed with how Sutton has handled being in the spotlight so far.
“I have been really proud of him too because he is a great player and a lot of times great players tend to feel like they are entitled and they don’t have to work as hard,” Graham said. “We have really challenged Will to set a standard to how you are going to work in practice. That is something he has really been buying into.”
Arizona State’s upcoming game against California may be Sutton’s biggest test to date.
