ASU TE Coyle: Turnovers, crowd key vs. Oregon

Oct 15, 2012, 8:52 PM | Updated: 10:06 pm

The Arizona State Sun Devils have not beaten the Oregon Ducks since quarterback Andrew Walter and company did so in 2004 by a score of 28-13.

Since that time, the Sun Devils have lost the last seven meetings by an average of 20.43 points, but hope to end that streak when the Ducks pay visit to Tempe this Thursday.

Despite Oregon coming in ranked third in the BCS and 12 point favorites, ASU tight end Chris Coyle likes his team’s chances.

“I am very confident in our team and in our ability. They are a good team, but in the years past when we played them, we have always done well against them,” Coyle told Arizona Sports 602’s Burns and Gambo Monday. “We have always played them well throughout the game. There has just been some times where turnovers have really killed us in the past.”

In the past two meetings, the Sun Devils have turned the ball over a total of nine times.

“If we are able to minimize the turnovers and take advantage of their mistake,” Coyle said. “I think we have a very good chance and I am very confident in our ability to get a victory.”

Coyle feels that a big home crown could make a difference in Thursday’s game.
