Steelers WR Antonio Brown calls Cardinals’ Patrick Peterson the No. 1 corner

There’s nothing like earning respect from a credible source.

Credible might sell this compliment short: the Arizona Cardinals’ Patrick Peterson was called the top cornerback in the NFL by none other than Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.

“I think Patrick Peterson definitely is my number one corner in my book,” Brown told FOX Sports 1’s Colin Cowherd on The Herd. “He’s strong, he’s fast, he’s elusive. He covered the best guy every week. You know if you’re playing the Arizona Cardinals and if you’re the best receiver on your team, you know 21 is going to be lining up across from you.”

Cowherd asked Brown if Peterson was a trash-talker, perhaps because the Cardinals leader has a mild history of riling up opponents. Whereas the Redskins’ Josh Norman and Desean Jackson might call Peterson a Twitter-troll, Brown wouldn’t go as far.

“I don’t think he’s a big trash-talker,” Brown said of Peterson. “I think he’s a competitor. He’s going to compete with you every play, he’s going to wait for you to get out of the huddle and be right in your face.”

How has P2 faired against arguably the NFL’s best receiver?

Last year in a 25-13 Cardinals loss in Pittsburgh, Brown tallied three receptions on eight targets for 24 yards — 23 of those came on one play.

In 2011, Brown and the Steelers had a better go against Peterson and Arizona, beating the Cardinals 32-20. Brown caught seven balls on nine targets for 102 yards while teammate Mike Wallace recorded three receptions for 118 yards, including a 95-yard play.
