The Arizona State Sun Devils took a hit in two national polls Sunday after losing to their in-state rival two days prior.
ASU was not able to come up with a win in Tucson against the Arizona Wildcats, and Todd Graham’s group fell several spots in the most recent AP and coaches polls.
The Sun Devils fell four places in the AP Top 25, going from 13th heading into the Territorial Cup to 17th two days later.
ASU (9-3, 6-3) descended even further in the Amway Coaches Poll, dropping from 13th to 18th.
Arizona (10-2, 7-2), meanwhile, was propelled to the No. 8 slot in both polls with its 42-35 win.
The Devils were positioned 13th in the College Football Playoff rankings prior to their loss Friday, and they will have to wait until Tuesday to find out their new placement.
ASU had a chance to earn a berth in the Pac-12 Championship game, but instead the program will have to wait for its bowl placement to find out when — and against whom — its next game will be.
