Robert Baker, the older brother of Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker, died after being shot Sunday morning in Seattle, reports The News Tribune.

Baker, who is entering his second NFL season, posted a message from his family on his Twitter and Instagram feeds acknowledging the death of his brother.

“On behalf of the Baker family we want to thank everyone for their generous outpouring of love, support and prayers during this extremely difficult time at the passing of our dearly beloved son, brother and husband, Robert Baker. We ask that you respect our family’s privacy in this difficult time,” the statement read.

According to The News Tribune, police responded to a report of a gunshot victim lying in the street in the Ballard neighborhood in Seattle. The 29-year-old victim was pronounced dead en route to the hospital.

A Sports Illustrated piece from December of 2016 detailed Robert Baker’s relationship with Budda.

Robert, who had just been released following an eight-year prison sentence, said he wanted to be an example to his younger brother.

“Let me be the prime example,” Robert told him, “of why you need to do it the right way.”
