Arizona Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks said after Friday’s game that quarterback Mike Glennon has been dealing with a forearm injury.

Glennon did not play in the team’s second preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. Instead, fourth-string quarterback Charles Kanoff started the second half and finished the rest of the game.

“One of the things I feel very competent in is just really listening to the players,” Wilks said. “He felt like with his grip — it wasn’t there and I wanted to give him an opportunity to get in there and be successful.”

Wilks said the hope is with an extra week that Glennon will be able to play against the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 26.

In the first preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Glennon was 2-for-7 with one interception.

The 28-year-old Glennon signed to a two-year deal worth $8 million with the Cardinals during the offseason. Glennon and starting quarterback Sam Bradford were signed at quarterback while Arizona also drafted Josh Rosen out of UCLA in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Glennon is listed behind Rosen on the team’s unofficial depth chart.
