Former ASU defensive lineman Jalen Bates on Monday announced his intention to transfer to Colorado State for his final season of eligibility.

The lineman played in all 13 games for ASU last season. He made 31 tackles, including six for a loss, a sack and forced fumble.

The redshirt senior would have been pressed for playing time on the defensive line, especially with the late season emergence of freshman lineman Jermayne Lole.

Bates is one of several Sun Devils who have announced their decision to transfer following the end of the season.

Outgoing transfers who have announced their new schools include tight end Jay Jay Wilson (Auburn) and punter Michael Sleep-Dalton (Iowa).

ASU did get good news on Sunday when American River JC defensive lineman TJ Pesefea announced his commitment for the Sun Devils.

Pesefea, who is 6-foot-4 and 304 pounds, will be immediately eligible in 2019 and will have three years of eligibility, per Sun Devil Source.
