Arizona Cardinals may lean on no-huddle offense more often this season

There’s no better sign of a healthy (ier) quarterback than a bit of variation and speed on offense.

Carson Palmer and the Arizona Cardinals’ offense was seen running a no-huddle a few times during OTAs Monday, and head coach Bruce Arians confirmed it may be seen more often this season.

“We can play real fast right now,” said Arians. “I like the tempo of it. It’s gone really well the whole time we’ve been out here, but this is the first time we’ve actually practiced it against the defense.”

Recevier John Brown also likes the idea of the no-huddle option because of its effect on opposing defenses.

“Hopefully we can come out at the beginning of a game and go (no-huddle) and wear a defense out,” he said.

That particular type of offense requires communication and a sense of comfort from players, not only with the playbook, but with other players too. Many offensive players are in at least their second year in Arians’ system.

“I think we know our offense well enough now that if we want to go uptempo, we can,” Arians said.

He added that Palmer feels comfortable with the no-huddle. The quarterback is still recovering from an ACL tear suffered last November, and isn’t practicing in full team drills quite yet.
