LDRIC the golf robot aces Waste Management Phoenix Open’s 16th hole

Meet LDRIC the golf robot.

Phonetically that’s Eldrick, as in Eldrick Tont Woods, better known as Tiger Woods. The acronym stands for “Launch Directional Robot Intelligent Circuitry,” and apparently that circuitry can launch golf balls in the right direction quite well.

On Wednesday, LDRIC aced the infamous 16th hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open during the event’s celebrity pro-am.

This was reportedly LDRIC’s fifth tee-off at the TPC Scottsdale’s most celebrated hole but fans didn’t seem to find it anything but spectacular.

The golf robot, owned by Golf Laboratories’ Gene Parente, is a sophisticated device programmed to simulate different shots and is used for ball and club testing.

This time, LDRIC was simulating its namesake’s ace on the course’s 16th hole back in 1997.
