Sun Devils vs. Wildcats: A look back at Territorial Cup history

The game is played every season, and whenever Arizona State University and the University of Arizona face off, the intensity is ratcheted up a bit.

While neither the Sun Devils (5-6, 2-6 in Pac-12) nor Wildcats (2-9, 0-8 in Pac-12) have had seasons to remember, a victory Friday night in Tucson would go a long way toward making a disappointing season more palatable.

For ASU, a win would also lead to bowl eligibility; for UA, this is their bowl game.

The Sun Devils have won three of four meetings since Todd Graham and Rich Rodriguez took over their respective programs, and are hoping to improve to 2-1 under him in the Old Pueblo.

As we get closer to Saturday’s contest, here’s a little thumbnail history of what this heated rivalry game has looked like since the two schools joined the Pac-10 in 1978.
