Arizona State Sun Devils punter Michael Turk is one of 10 semifinalists for the 2019 Ray Guy Award, an honor given to college football’s best punter each season.

The Augusta Sports Council on Monday announced the list of candidates who can win the award, cutting down the field from 78 nominees.

Turk is the third ASU player who has been named as as semifinalist, joining Josh Hubner (2012) and Nick Murphy (2000 and 2001).

The sophomore is averaging 46.3 yards per punt, 10th-best in the nation. Twenty-eight of his 49 punts have landed inside the opponent 20-yard line, and that total is good for second in the NCAA.

Turk has a long punt of 75 yards and has 17 that have gone for more than 50 yards this year.

He got off to a strong start to the season, averaging 63.0 yards per punt in the season opener to set an NCAA record for average with five or more punts in a game.

The Ray Guy Award voting body of FBS sports information directors, media members, previous award winners and one additional fan vote will help decide three finalists and victor for the 2019 honor. Three finalists will be named on Nov. 25, while the winner will be revealed at the annual college football awards on Dec. 12.
