Arizona State receiver Kyle Williams and cornerback Chase Lucas did not return after suffering injuries in the team’s 20-14 Sun Bowl win over the Florida State Seminoles, per ASU officials.
Williams strained his Achilles in the first half, Arizona State sideline reporter Jordan Simone said on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. There was no word on what injury Lucas suffered.
Both players had significant plays in the first half Tuesday against the Seminoles, and their Sun Devils led 9-0 at halftime.
Lucas blocked FSU kicker Ricky Aguayo’s field goal from 37 yards out with 8:27 left in the first half, and the ball was returned 12 yards by ASU linebacker Khaylan Kearse-Thomas.
Williams, a senior, found himself playing as a running back in his final game as a Sun Devil. He caught a screen pass and went 77 yards as part of a field goal drive in the second quarter that put Arizona State ahead, 6-0. He left after rushing six times for 12 yards as well.
