Former Arizona State guard Jaelen House commits to New Mexico

Apr 15, 2021, 6:33 PM

Former Arizona State Sun Devil Jaelen House will be playing college basketball for the New Mexico Lobos next season.

The former ASU guard announced via Instagram on Thursday that he has committed to take his talents to the Mountain West Conference.

House is a Phoenix native, having gone to Shadow Mountain High School where he was coached by his uncle and former Arizona Wildcat and NBA player Mike Bibby.

Jaelen is also the son of Eddie House, whose No. 5 jersey hangs in the rafters following his time at Arizona State from 1996-2000.

In his two years at ASU, Jaelen averaged 17.2 minutes a game in his 51 career appearances.

He also averaged 4.5 points, 1.3 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 1.41 steals per game while shooting 32.7% from the field (74-for-226), 32.8% from three (39 of 119) and 75% from the charity stripe (42-for-56).

The announcement comes following ASU director of operations Eric Brown taking an assistant coaching job with New Mexico on Tuesday under the newly hired Lobos head coach Richard Pitino.

House is one of many players who have entered the transfer portal this offseason, including guard Holland Woods and forwards Taeshon Cherry, Pavlo Dziuba and Chris Osten.

Freshmen Josh Christopher and Marcus Bagley have both already declared for the 2021 NBA Draft.
