Just when it looked like most everything was going the Arizona Cardinals’ way on Sunday, disaster struck.

Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray did not return after injuring his hamstring in the third quarter of Arizona’s 27-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

“I can’t tell just yet, we’ll look at it [Monday],” head coach Kliff Kingsbury told 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Paul Calvisi when asked about the severity of the injury. “We justed wanted to make sure if he’s out there he can play at the level he can play at, and we didn’t want to put him in harm’s way.”

It was a solid game for the rookie, who’s completed 11 of his 18 passes for 118 yards and a score. He added another 40 yards on six carries.

The start was yet another promising one for Murray, who entering play Sunday, sat at 3,279 yards with 17 touchdowns on 312-of-482 passing (64.7%). He also led the team in rushing yards, accumulating 504 yards, and trailed only Kenyan Drake (5) in the rushing touchdown department with four scores on 85 attempts.

Backup QB Brett Hundley got the nod with Murray sidelined. Hundley hadn’t seen the field much at all this season, attempting just one pass and getting sacked once.

He finished the game for Arizona, completing four of his nine passes for 49 yards. He ran for another 35 yards on six attempts.

“[Hundley] did a great job handling the gameplan even though he didn’t get many reps at it, didn’t get any reps at it all week. He did a nice job executing,” Kingsbury told Calvisi of the backup QB.
