The NBA All-Star game uniforms will honor Kobe and Gianna Bryant, plus the seven other victims killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday.
The team captained by LeBron James will wear the No. 2, Gianna’s number, while Giannis Antetokoumpo’s squad will wear Kobe’s No. 24.
Both teams on Sunday, Feb. 16, will wear jersey patches of nine stars, a nod to the Bryants and the seven other victims from the crash in California: John, Keri and Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christina Mauser and Ara Zobayan.
NBA Rising Stars players who appear on Friday, Feb. 14, will also honor the crash victims.
The World and U.S. teams in the game for first- and second-year players will wear jersey patches featuring the Bryants’ numbers, 2 and 24, surrounded by nine stars. That same patch will be on all uniforms for the skills challenge, dunk contest and three-point shootout on Saturday before the All-Star Game.
The 2020 NBA All-Star Game will tip at 6 p.m. MST in Chicago on Feb. 16.
While starters and reserves have been named, James and Antetokounmpo have yet to pick their squads. That will take place on TNT next Thursday at 5 p.m.
