Arizona Cardinals defensive contributors Budda Baker, Jordan Phillips and Dre Kirkpatrick are active for the team’s Week 3 game against the Detroit Lions.
All were on the injured report the week leading into the game, with Phillips and Kirkpatrick questionable.
Baker, who has an injured thumb, will play this week before undergoing surgery for a UCL repair that could cost him the next game or two, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Not with Arizona against Detroit are receiver Christian Kirk (groin) and center Mason Cole (hamstring), who on Friday were ruled out for the game. Cornerback Kirkpatrick (neck) and defensive tackle Phillips (ankle) were questionable.
Kirk injured himself but returned to finish out the Cardinals’ Week 2 win over the Washington Football Team. However, he didn’t practice all week.
Healthy scratches for the Cardinals’ Week 3 game at State Farm Stadium include quarterback Brett Hundley, running back Eno Benjamin, offensive tackle Josh Miles and defensive tackle Leki Fotu.
Arizona is likely to give Kirk’s snaps to second-year pro Andy Isabella, while fellow 2019 draft pick KeeSean Johnson is also available after missing the first two games of 2020 on the COVID-19/reserve list.
On Saturday, Arizona elevated undrafted rookie running back Jonathan Ward from the practice squad. He is active against the Lions and can make his NFL debut in Week 3 after the Cardinals lost third-string running back D.J. Foster to the practice squad injured reserve due to a quad injured suffered in a Week 2 victory over Washington.
Detroit will not have cornerback Desmond Trufant, who was doubtful due to a hamstring issue.
Running back Ty Johnson, safety C.J. Moore, offensive lineman Logan Stenberg and tight end Hunter Bryant are also sitting out.
Moore (calf) was questionable to play, while Bryant (hamstring) was already ruled out on Friday.
