Vikings-Cardinals injury report: LB Devon Kennard ruled out
The Arizona Cardinals will be without linebacker Devon Kennard when they take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, head coach Kliff Kingsbury said after Friday’s practice.
The linebacker had been dealing with a hamstring issue and hadn’t practiced all week.
Offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum, who suffered a rib injury in the team’s 38-13 win over the Tennessee Titans, was back on the practice field Friday after missing the last two days. He is a game-time decision, per Kingsbury.
For the Vikings, front-seven depth will be lacking come Sunday.
Starting middle linebacker Eric Kendricks was out of practice Thursday with a quadriceps injury and Friday was listed as questionable, while fellow starting linebacker Anthony Barr (knee) is among those ruled out for the game.
Rookie backup tackle Christian Darrisaw (groin), pass rusher Everson Griffen (concussion) and special teamer Harrison Hand (hamstring) have also been ruled out by the team.
Missing any of those players would be significant. Kendricks and fellow starting linebacker Nick Vigil, the latter of whom has been limited in practice, played all 69 defensive snaps in a 27-24 Week 1 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Griffen, who went to Agua Fria High School in Avondale, Ariz., was added to the Vikings’ injury report with a concussion on Thursday. ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reports he suffered the injury in a car accident while trying to avoid hitting a deer.
Griffen played 41% of the team’s snaps, primarily on passing downs.
Barr did not play in Minnesota’s Week 1 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
