Cardinals-49ers injury report: Murray, Hopkins are game-time decisions

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (ankle) and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) were not at the open portion of practice Friday and, according to coach Kliff Kingsbury, are game-time decisions to play Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

“He’s progressing but we’ll see how he feels Sunday and go from there,” Kingsbury said of Murray.

Murray and Hopkins are thus listed as questionable and are joined by backup center/guard Max Garcia (Achilles) with the status heading into gameday.

Cardinals defensive lineman Rashard Lawrence suffered a setback with his calf injury and is out for the game. So are running back Jonathan Ward (concussion), defensive tackle J.J. Watt (shoulder) and safety James Wiggins (knee).

Murray has not missed a start in the 40 games since Arizona made him the top pick in the 2019 draft and started him from Week 1 of that season.

The quarterback sprained his ankle late last Thursday in a loss to the Green Bay Packers. Murray and coach Kliff Kingsbury called him day-to-day and suggested he could play against the 49ers even if he doesn’t practice this week.

“Taking it one day at a time, not really putting anything on it,” Murray told reporters Wednesday. “Just like I said, taking it one day at a time. See where I go.”

Hopkins played last week with his hamstring injury but struggled after earning a start, playing just 15 snaps.
