Although penalties still remain a huge issue for the Arizona State Sun Devils, Herm Edwards’ squad looked much more like itself against USC, winning 31-16.

ASU started the game with a defensive interception on the first drive of the game. The Sun Devils also opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 14-yard touchdown run by DeaMonte “Chip” Trayanum.

After USC added a field goal, Trayanum fumbled the ball in ASU territory, adding to his fumbling issue this season. He did not return after.

The Sun Devils intercepted a USC pass on 3rd and 6 in their own endzone that was negated by a facemask penalty. USC cashed in seven more points taking the lead back.

Rachaad White went 72 yards in two separate plays giving ASU the lead.

The Sun Devils continue to have costly penalties that result in points for their opponents.

For a moment the energy in the stands felt as if fans were having flashbacks from the previous six quarters. The Sun Devils finished the half with two turnovers and three penalties for 33 yards.

White led the way with 202 rushing yards on 28 carries with three touchdowns. He also hauled in two Daniels’ passes for 35 yards.
