Arizona State came into Corvallis on Saturday night already fighting an uphill battle, and trailed Oregon State 17-0 at halftime.

ASU managed to score 10 points in the second half, but still ended up falling 24-10 to the Beavers.

The Sun Devils were without a plethora of players, including senior linebacker Darien Butler, who was ruled out due to an undisclosed injury.

ASU senior tight end Curtis Hodges — the team’s second-leading receiver — did not make the trip due to the two-car accident that involved a total of five players on Thursday.

The game did not start out how Arizona State would have envisioned it, as junior quarterback Jayden Daniels was picked off on the opening drive of the ballgame.

And after the Beavers took the lead on a 52-yard field goal, the Sun Devils marched down the field only to miss what would’ve been a game-tying 32-yarder.

Sun Devils backup kicker Logan Tyler also missed a 49-yard FG as the half expired.

Oregon State tacked on 14 more unanswered points on a 10-yard touchdown pass and a one-yard TD run by quarterback Chance Nolan in the second quarter.

The Sun Devils — who ran 27 plays in the first half — were outgained 184-142 by the Beavers, who garnered 118 yards on the ground and 66 through the air on 35 plays.

Arizona State also lost the turnover, penalty and time of possession battle in the opening 30 minutes.
