Former Arizona State Sun Devils wide receiver Johnny Wilson announced he is transferring to Florida State, he posted to his Twitter on Thursday night.
Wilson reportedly entered his name in the transfer portal on Tuesday, according to The Athletic’s Doug Haller.
As a redshirt freshman in 2021, Wilson only played in five games after dealing with a hamstring injury majority of the season. He caught 12 passes for 154 yards and a score.
Wilson came to ASU from Calabasas High School, a powerhouse program in California. A four-star recruit, he was regarded as one of the top prospects at the receiver position, listed as the No. 116 overall player in the Class of 2020, according to the 247Sports composite.
The receiver was the Sun Devils’ top-ranked recruit from the 2020 class, a signing class that has also seen running back DeaMonte Trayanum enter his name in the transfer portal.
Wilson had his best career game in a Sun Devils’ uniform on Sept. 25 against Colorado where he hauled in four receptions for 70 yards.
The 6’7 wide receiver will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Wilson becomes the second wide receiver from the Pac-12 to transfer to FSU, after former Oregon receiver Mycah Pittman announced his commitment to the Seminoles on Sunday.
