Former Arizona Cardinals linebacker Jordan Hicks has agreed to terms with the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced Tuesday.

Adam Caplan reports that the deal is for two years and worth up to $12 million, with $6.5 million guaranteed.

The Cardinals waived the 29-year-old Hicks last Wednesday and saved Arizona $6.5 million in cap space, according to OverTheCap.com.

Hicks is coming off of a 2021 season in which he played in all 17 regular-season games and saw 97% of all defensive snaps.

The linebacker accumulated 116 tackles (seven for loss), four sacks, five passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Hicks usage last season comes after back-to-back drafts in which the Cardinals selected linebackers with their first-round pick in Isaiah Simmons and Zaven Collins, respectively.

Despite the team naming 2021 first-round pick Collins as the team’s starting MIKE backer last offseason, Hicks not only regained the starting role but was also named a captain.

General manager Steve Keim allowed Hicks to find a trade, but the linebacker was heavily utilized by defensive coordinator Vance Joseph and received praise for the professionalism in which he conducted himself throughout the season.

In three years in the Valley, Hicks never missed a game for the Cardinals, including one postseason appearance.

He amassed a total of 384 tackles (29 for loss), 5.5 sacks, four INTs, 15 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 49 regular-season games.
