Amid an offseason filled with contract extension talk and reports of frustration, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray set the record straight while giving back to the community on Thursday.

“I’m an Arizona Cardinal,” Murray told reporters. “I have done nothing but give my all to the Cardinals, will continue to do that. I’m not really too worried about my future as a Cardinal.

“I keep football, football,” he added. “I let … whoever takes care of that stuff take care of that stuff. All I’m worried about is playing good on the field.”

Murray stepped in front of the camera after handing out $10,000 to the Arizona Education Foundation for the first time since his press conference following the team’s ugly Wild Card round loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

The offseason that has followed has been anything but smooth, from Murray’s scrubbing of his Instagram to Super Bowl Sunday reports questioning his leadership and painting a picture of frustration on both sides.

Murray and Arizona traded statements shortly after. Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill reaffirmed the team’s stance on the signal caller a little over a week later while on with Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta. Bidwill also spoke on the complexity of getting an extension done.

Murray’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, issued a statement of his own days after Bidwill’s remarks, with “actions speak louder than words” written in bold. Burkhardt has since fired off tweets pointing to what other teams are doing with their quarterbacks’ extensions and the overall roster construction in what has been a wild offseason outside in the NFL.

“Obviously you got the whole social media stuff and then coming out with whatever it is about the future and stuff like that,” Murray said. “Honestly, I’m happy where I’m at, I’m just being where my feet are and keeping football the main thing like I always have.”

As far as the social media scrubbing, Murray said it had nothing to do with the Cardinals.

“If you’re a kid my age, you’re used to — people take off all that — it’s just a thing,” Murray said. “I took everything off there besides (two posts).”

And while Murray’s character has come into question, teammates such as tight end Zach Ertz, running back James Conner, backup quarterback Colt McCoy and offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum have come to the support of their signal caller throughout the offseason.

“Those are the people that matter to me, people inside the locker room, inside the building,” Murray said. “People that know me, around me every day.

“If you don’t really know me, I can’t really listen to any type of criticism or anything like that. I’m my biggest critic myself, so it doesn’t really affect me.”
