Arizona State football head coach Kenny Dillingham received more good news in the form of a new edge rusher committing. Salesi Manu from Reno, Nevada, announced his decision Friday night.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Manu also visited Washington State, Cal, Oregon State and BYU before a visit to Tempe sealed the deal for his decision.
Rated as a top-100 edge rusher in the 2024 class, Manu helped lead his high school, Bishop Manogue, to a 5A Division II state title as a senior.
Manu’s decision is a timely one for an Arizona State defense which just lost its co-leading sacker from Dillingham’s first season, B.J. Green, to the transfer portal.
“The campus really surprised me with how nice it was and how close it was to the airport,” Manu told Rivals after his visit but before committing. “It’s cool because if I came here, my family could be here on a direct flight.”
Manu also mentioned that special teams coordinator Charlie Ragle and defensive analyst Max Silver were the ones recruiting him and that Ragle “likes my twitchiness and the way I get off the ball.”
He joins four-star running back Jason Brown and Florida State tight end transfer Markeston Douglas as the most recent additions for a Sun Devils squad that is hearing a lot of good news ahead of early signing day on Dec. 20.
