While the mood was somewhat of a somber one at Folsom Field Saturday night, the Arizona State Sun Devils still managed to leave Boulder, Colo. with a 38-24 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes to open up Pac-12 play.

Led by 195 yards passing and three touchdowns from quarterback Taylor Kelly, who left with a right foot injury in the third quarter, and running back D.J. Foster’s 206 yards of total offense and two scores, the Sun Devils recorded their third straight double-digit victory to begin the 2014 season.

For their efforts, the Sun Devils moved up to No. 13 in the Amway Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the Associated Press Poll Sunday.

In addition to ASU, five other Pac-12 schools remained in both polls — Oregon (No. 3 /No. 2), UCLA (No. 10/No. 12), Stanford (No. 15/No. 16) and USC (No. 21/No. 17).

The Sun Devils host the Bruins in a battle with Pac-12 South implications on Thursday, Sept. 25 — the first regular season game between ranked teams at Sun Devil Stadium since Nov. 22, 2007.

ASU’s 3-0 start is its best in program history since 2007.
