Here’s some nostalgia for you, children of the 1990s.
Two minor league teams, the Brooklyn Cyclones and Vermont Lake Monsters, took part in a Ren and Stimpy-themed matchup on Wednesday that was complete with jerseys representing the main characters of the classic Nickelodeon cartoon series. Brooklyn donned the image of Stimpy, the show’s goofy cat creature, while Vermont wore jerseys with the face of Ren, the neurotic chihuahua.
The Ren and Stimpy show didn’t last long, running five seasons and 52 episodes from 1993-95, but it was memorable in pop culture for later influencing more recent animated comedy series.
On Wednesday, Brooklyn’s stadium was giving away Happy Happy Joy Joy ticket packages that included a Ren and Stimpy bobblehead.

Nickelodeon apparently has made sure to hit baseball’s minor leagues hard in promoting its television shows. In July, the network put together a SpongeBob SquarePants evening with the Inland Empire 66ers.
