Options are aplenty after the Arizona State hockey team released a fresh set of adidas uniforms on Thursday.
ASU will have 72 color combinations in all, starting with a white home jersey and a maroon road jersey. Four helmet options — maroon, gold, white and grey — extends the list of options.
Arizona State’s ADIZERO Authentic jerseys will be supplemented by three glove and pant options each: maroon, black and grey.
“The willingness of adidas to collaborate and transform the look of what was an already unique program into something college hockey hasn’t seen before, puts adidas Hockey at the forefront of yet another hockey apparel landscape,” said Sun Devil Hockey equipment manager Jon Laughner in a release. “This is just the start of reinventing the college hockey uniform system. We are excited to roll out new and exciting uniforms.”
The jerseys feature new materials in the crest, reducing the weight by up to 46 percent. The numbering system threads weigh up to 60 percent less than old versions, according to adidas.
The jerseys also feature Clima technology fabrics to increase air flow but are 27 percent stronger in burst testing and 72 percent more resistant in abrasion testing, said adidas.
The Sun Devils will officially roll out the new threads when the season opens at home Oct. 6-7 against Alaska-Fairbanks at Oceanside Ice Arena.
